Adaptive Surface Systems

A working prototype utilizing the new “Firefly” plugin for Rhino / Grasshopper. The adaptive surface reacts to changing light conditions, reshaping the pliable insert and sending data back to the digital model in real-time. The 2-way data stream allows simultaneous feedback and control of both the physical actuators and the geometric model. This opens up many possibilities for developing environmentally responsive surfaces, using both local and remote sensors that are capable of driving changes in geometry or position, etc. of physical and digital adaptive systems. Project developed by Laszlo Pallagi, a post-professional graduate student in my Houston DFAB studio.
